SHAPING DESIRE
May 2024 | Branding
"Shaping Desire" is an exhibition developed as part of my Graphic Design Theory course, which required students to curate a collection of objects that exemplify a design theory or concept learned in class. The project involved selecting at least six objects, then creating a label for each that includes a description of the item. Additionally, the project required the design of various promotional materials and a mockup display.
For this exhibition, I chose to focus on the influence of design in consumer culture, particularly through the lens of historical advertisements. "Shaping Desire" features iconic ads from brands like Coca-Cola, Marlboro, and McDonald's, each selected to illustrate how advertising strategies have evolved from the early 20th century to the digital age. The exhibit not only showcases these ads but also provides an analysis of the psychological tactics used to influence consumer behavior, highlighting the significant role that graphic design plays in shaping our purchasing decisions and cultural identities.
