Catalog of Influences
April 2024
This project, despite taking up the majority of my junior year spring semester, was a great learning experience. I was tasked with creating a book of at least 100 pages consisting of my influences as an artist. I decided to use music as a way to tie my influences together- I did this by using albums I love as the titles to each chapter, and categorizing my influences to fit under the feel of each album. For example, the first chapter is named “Stick Season: We’ll All Be Here Forever” by Noah Kahan, and I felt that all of my nature-related influences would fit well there.
My book ended up coming out to 142 pages, and I noticed that as I became more comfortable with the grid I created, my spreads become a little bit more experimental as the book continues. I look forward to creating other books in which I can continue to showcase the knowledge I’ve gained from this project!
